2009 Shanghai Jazz Music Festival
This year’s Shanghai Jazz Festival will take place at Pudong Century Park during October 17-18. It seems there will be more varieties in this year’s music festival. According to the organiser, there will be three stages in the park as the Jazz stage, Rock & Roll stage and Electronica stage with 38 bands from 13 different countries. And the godfather of Chinese rock & roll music Cui Jian will be performing at the festival as well. According to the festival official site, he has mentioned that he will sing Jazz during the festival. How exactly that will go, I will leave it to you to find out.
This year’s festival will be kicked off by Dee Dee Bridgewater, who will be the opening performer at Yunfeng Theatre on 16 October. However, for those of you, who live in Shanghai but won’t be able to make it to the Century Park or the Yunfeng Theatre, there will be free performances at Times Square in Puxi (14-16 October, 19:00 – 10:00) and Lianyang Square in Pudong (time to be confirmed). This apparently is this year’s Jazz festival’s new “Jazz around the Town” project.
